As part of my ongoing professional development as a photographer, each year I travel to the United States for photography training twice a year. This spring, I traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, with the intent to photograph my passion – boudoir photography.
I had the opportunity to learn with and from other professional boudoir photographers from Canada and the USA, as well as teach a little too.
There are so many highlights, it’s hard to pick just a few. One was definitely being invited to shoot with one of America’s top boudoir photographers, Amber Jones. I picked up a number of great tips, and was able to shoot alongside her while photographing Jess, a model who’s just made her claim to fame by be invited to walk the catwalk in New York. Way to go, girl! You can see a few behind the scenes photos to begin with, and then some of the models and women I had the pleasure of working with for our session.
I also stepped way out of my own comfort zone ~ twice ~ and had my own boudoir sessions, modeling for two American photographers. It’s true that you really can’t know something fully until you experience it yourself. Even though the women I photograph share how fun and liberating the experience was for them with me, it wasn’t until I hopped in front of the camera myself, that I truly understood myself. It’s an experience I recommend for everyone!
Such a wonderful time; I’m already booked in for St. Louis again next year!
